Went to the beach for a walk on Christmas Eve and again today - Boxing Day afternoon. Wore a nice warm outfit as the temperature was about 3c on Christmas Eve and 7c today. Wellies, thick socks, leg warmers, thick tights etc. I intended to go in up to thigh depth the first time as the tide was out and the beach has a very shallow slope, but i found a deeper place where i didn't expect it, so i was up to my waist.

Today it was high tide when i got there and there was only a narrow strip of sand, plus it was still daylight and there were plenty of people around. Managed to fill my boots soon after i got there but i walked on until it got dark before i went in any deeper. At various places i stopped and went in a bit deeper each time until i was wet to my waist, then once it was dark, i went in deeper enjoying the sensation as the cold water slowly filled my waterproof coat from the bottom up to my armpits. Didn't get my arms under this time because i was getting cold. So i then walked quickly back about 2 miles to the car to generate some heat.

It took an hour to get home, then i cooked a meal and ate it before finally changing into some dry clothes.
