I think the person operating the camera was more interested in watching it live than making a worthwhile video record. Not the first time I've seen this sort of thing - the camera inexplicably tilts/pans away from the action at the most interesting moment, presumably because the person holding it decides they'd rather watch "live" than through the viewfinder, and in that moment, doesn't care what gets captured on the video.
