I went to Las Vegas in late August.  I lost a total of $130 gambling.  I stayed at the Longhorn on Boulder Highway again.  I spent 3 whole days and part of the other 2 with my woman friend that lives in Las Vegas.  We ate 3 times in the Longhorn's restaurant, once at Pizza Hut up the street, once at Buffet Asia, and the last night at the Rio's buffet.  One night we got in the hot tub together.  She wore one of my shirts that fits her like an oversize dress.  Afterward we got in the shower together (clothes on of course) and I got to wash her hair!  A wonderful trip, despite the gambling loss!  

In mid September I went to the Tulare County Fair.  Helm & Sons Amusements' water ride, Big Splash, is a super soaker.  Lots of nice wetlook to see.  The following 2 weeks were the Kern County Fair in my hometown of Bakersfield.  Butler Amusements has a water ride also, but it is not nearly as wet.  

In late September 2 events that could have ended tragically happened.  One day with no warning I suddenly became very sick.  I had to go to Urgent Care.  I was diagnosed with Pneumonia.  I got the Prevnar 13 vaccine last year, but it didn't help me!  My fever was 102.8F.  I had to have an IV for about 2 hours and take some strong antibiotics.  If I hadn't gotten medical attention I could have died.  The other terrible event happened the same day.  While rushing around to take me to Urgent Care, by 89 year old mother fell.  She got up at first and was able to drive me to Urgent Care, but while there her hip, which was probably fractured during her fall, finally gave way and broke completely.  She ended up spending 5 days in the hospital.  Fortunately her surgery went well and she was able to come directly home with no stay in a nursing home.  She is able to walk again already!  She has been a very determined woman all her life (she must be to have put up with me and my dad all these years!) and is determined not to let this get the best of her.  

A week ago I went to Magic Mountain for Fright Fest.  The temperature was in the low 90s, very warm for late October.  Lots of nice wetlook to see on Roaring Rapids and Tidal Wave.

Sometime in December I am planning to go to Glendale for 2 days and 1 night to see the woman I met at Hurricane Harbor this year (search the archives for more on that story).  In January I am planning to go back to Las Vegas for another 6 nights.

I have been doing quite well on my frequent trips to my favorite nearby Indian casino, which now has a $1 blackjack table!
