As an electronics engineer who follows technology pretty closely, I'm not convinced that 4k will become the norm. I think there's a good possibility that 4k could remain a niche, at best. The reason is, at any reasonable viewing distances and screen sizes in the home, the human eye cannot distinguish 4k from 1080p. If you walk up to within 18 inches of your 65" UHD display, sure - but not at any reasonable viewing distance. 4K just might become the next passing fad, like 3D. |

I'll echo the other response: if you have the gear to record and edit in 4k, by all means produce 4k masters, but publish at 1080p. When the market catches up, you can then re-issue at full resolution. |
