In a word, piracy. If download links didn't expire, they would get posted all over the pirate sites and most producers would go out of business.

I know it's not much help now, but for the future, it's worth having two external drives - one connected to the computer and one that is kept powered off and stored somewhere safe (ideally, off the premises - in a storage unit or at a friend's house or in a drawer at work or similar). Every few weeks, swap them over and make sure each one has a full backup of everything. This not only protects against viruses, but also fires and burglary.

hi to the forum,

can someone explain, maybe the owner of the sites, why the downloaddlinks on the most site expire after some days? for example on mostwam, eurowam etc. it is very frustrating too lost videos after having a virus on your pc and then you could not get then again, also you have paid for it...
