She buckled the straps on her department store special $20 high heeled sandals and leaned back in the plastic lounge chair, admiring them against her pedicured toes and acid wash jeans. With a smirk, indicating that despite the pricetag, the shoes were to her liking, she rose and walked to the stairs end of the pool. Her sandals momentarily disturbed the smooth blue surface of the water before quickly disappearing out of sight, as the gap between the water and the cuffs of her jeans closed. She continued to descend the stairs, glancing at me with a smile, as the pool water would consume her denim legs, making them darker, heavier, and distorted as you looked down on them through the mass of water.

A screeching sound of a 70s alarm clock suddenly jolted me awake. For a second, I still saw the pool and the girl knee deep in it, then the vision quickly melted and got consumed by the gray ceiling. I felt for the snooze button, as I continued to stare at the ceiling. It was still gray. Gray, colored by the gray light that was coming through the blinds. It was just before sunrise. I got up, trying to drown out the dream by mentally going through all the not so important things that had to be done today. I walked up to the window and peeped outside. The rain has stopped, and the asphalt was now dry. The whole world was dry. Filled with dry women in dry clothes.
