,,,fyi, about 12 years ago there was a guy who came to me who wanted to create a site like this, and he asked for my help in developing this site, which was called The Wam Travel Guide. I spent some time writing down all the infos I knew, giving infos on various events by each country, and he set up the Wam Travel Guide website mostly based on the data I sent to him.

Unfortunately, he only kept the site open for about 3 years, and then he disappeared to Mars (looking for wet events on other planets...ha ha) cos then his site went inactive for many months and then eventually shut down.

As Anthony said, the problem is....we can and have set things up in the past....but then nobody bothers to maintain and update the events data every month etc....so it becomes stale for "one time events"....and the only data that remains valid are the "ongoing and regular" events (e.g. water festivals or certain annual events like Street Parade in Zurich...which is next month btw).

Another problem is.....some events have to be "top secret" cos it is not "prudent" to announce some events too widely.....i.e. it is ok to annonuce major festivals or any events where there will be big crowds of people attending (1000+ people).....but for smaller events, it is not prudent to announce those......i.e. most of the dunk tank events I go to in the USA there are less than 20 people around the dunk tank....so if we announced those on the forums and 10 guys with cameras around their necks, running around and dripping saliva show up....that will freak the organizers out. This is one reason you will never get Leon to announce in advance where his next dunk tank or pool parties will take place.....cos his events are a UK state secret and not announced in advance in order to avoid too many droolers with cameras showing up. This is why most of the German pool parties that used to happen in the 1990's....no longer happen today....cos they were pre-announcing those pool parties on the old Nasse Klamotten German wetlook forum and too many weird looking camera people were showing up and the organizers did not like it.....so they would then tell their security to throw out those people (and that now happens at the Mainflingen lakeside concerts and wet events in Germany).

So.....when it comes to attending wetlook events.....there 2 parameters to remember are these 2 sayings

- Many Hands Make Light Work      (i.e. it helps to have some people attend these events, so they can share their pics and videos)

...i.e. there are 40+ Dirndl and Gautchfest events all over Austria, Germany and Switzerland this summer....and we do not have anybody attending and documenting those events....so we coulld use some help there....but....don't forget the opposite saying...

- Too Many Cooks Spoil the Broth  (i.e. too many camera people showing up at a lightly attended event, will end in a bad result).

So....personally I am willing to provide data for large scale events where 1000+ people attend those events, but for small events of less than 100 people, it is better not to publish that info.....but I am willing to provide such infos privately by email if people are going on a vacation somewhere and want some advice on where to go to capture some wetlook. I just did that this morning to one of my long time contacts....he emailed me to say he would be visiting a certain country and I told him where to go to see some interesting stuff.

Thanks Guys for all your input to this thread (50912), maybe we should have a calender on the forum which people can add dates to that way we all know when an event is due to happen, or can see in advance  events which always happen at certain times of the year,

be good for people on holiday e.t.c. could go along and take pictures cos remember, every angle is a new picture then after a few years we can see the bigger picture pn the events due and make trips to place's either close or plan far away trips..... just a thought nothing

better then planning a trip and taking in a favorate past time.........
