Converting flv files to more accepted format, not quite sure what you mean since you can play those files directly from your pc with many of the media players such as vlc or gom as has been mentioned here on this forum many times.
That said, when I need to convert media files to another format, I use format factory This software is updated frequently and seems to have no issue with some of the more obscure audio and video codex's you might encounter.
If I am trying to take files to DVD I use dvd flick This software does a decent job of converting files to be burned to a DVD. I have been able to run flv's and many other media formats straight into this software.
I have never heard about mpeg streamclip, but it looks interesting, I will probably download and give it a try, thanks for the tip AMF.
