It looks like what you've done, is call up the page in the browser, save it to disc, edit it in Word, and re-upload it. When you saved it to disc, it's saved the images too, created a directory to hold them, and altered the HTML to refer to the images within this directory.

The page would have said:

<img width=423 height=317 src="arthur251.jpg">

After you saved it to disc as photo-arthur251.html, the browser created an accompanying folder for all the images, called "photo-arthur251_files", and dropped the image in there, altering the HTML as follows:

<img width=423 height=317 src="./photo-arthur251_files/image002.jpg" ...>

I can't go into much more detail without knowing exactly what you're doing, but you can use Notepad to manually correct the HTML of each image (<img ...>) back to the original name. I cannot explain for example where "image002.jpg" comes from as Firefox or Internet Explorer do not rename the image files like than when saving. I wonder if the image also had the wrong name to begin with. I don't have Word installed on my PC, so I am not 100% sure how to insert images suitable for the Web -- I code the HTML entirely by hand. If you have FrontPage on your PC, that will at least do a better job of it (depends which version of Office you have). Word is a terrible Web page editor; FrontPage has a bad reputation but it is at least designed for the job. Fundamentally though you should consider learning HTML and forming for yourself an understanding of the underlying principles here. Plain HTML is very straightforward.

OK ...

Where are you trying to put this photo? What are you trying to put links to? What formatting are you referring to that is doing the damage?

Can we at least see an example of it not working, to demonstrate what you're doing?

oops sorry, ythat was a bit garbled - this is the picture on its own - a wetlook image of Violet Fireburns in the River Mersey - http://arthurchappell.me.uk/general.picture.8553.jpg What i'm trying to do is add text descriptions and a hyperlink under the photo but the formatting keeps cutting the photo out leaving a blank space - this is the photo on its own so this link should work ok. Cheers. AC

Hello Arthur

The address you listed is a 404.

Is that an example of a link that doesn't work (but should), or is that an example of a page where the images aren't working?

We could really do with additional details on exactly what it is you're trying to do, where, to what, and how. Just providing a broken link doesn't offer enough information.

Trying to figure out how to add links to my wet website photos – to enable easier navigation and for them to carry  Adsense ads for me, but if I add links to this photo the image disappears online. Why? And how do I get round it? Thanks. Arthur Chappell One of my wetlook photos - http://arthurchappell.me.uk/photo-general.picture.8853.htm
