Most of the videos on youtube are shot with mobile phones, NOT video cameras, they are shot by the general public with no experience of holding a video camera, only experience of taking pics on their mobiles. Holding a phone it is much easier to forget the correct orientation for video, particularly if you have no experience of doing it.

That is kind of the WHOLE POINT of youtube, amateurs sharing amateur videos that they have shot on their mobile devices.
