I understand that most of the Youtube vids are grab shots by people with a camera phone of point-'n-shoot digital. I am a pro and often forget to focus, aim, change f-stop, etc. What really pissed me off are the pros who sell their videos and do the same thing. I can't tell you how many times I bitched about buying a video that was shot on the dark side of a model. Cameras are exposed on sunny water and the nice wet jeans vanish in a black cloud. they are shot at noon with the sun directly overhead. Etc. etc.
But, the youtubes are not pro, they are free, they are shot be people who never took a photo course. Some of these, by accident, are not bad. I would rather see a bunch of bad ones and find one jem than never see any. So, I guess I want to say 'keep shootin'. |
In reply to Message (38844) How to make a really bad video
By John - Tue 27/01/09 20:51:33 GMT Website: http://www.thejeanpool.com/ 1. Don't even think about focusing.
2. Zoom out to get the 'whole scene' and make the subject the size of an ant.
3. Shoot directly toward the sun so that it bleaches out the entire scene.
4. Don't worry about camera shake. Put the camera right next to your cheek while talking to maximize camera shake. Don't use a tripod.
5. While a subject is doing something interesting, point the camera somewhere else, such as at your feet.
6. Hold the camera sideways.
7. Shout and laugh loudly so the camera's mic picks up your voice.
8. Use that lousy cell-phone camera because you're too lazy to carry that nice camera you paid big bucks for.
9. Move the camera left and right, up and down to take in the 'whole scene'.
10. Don't use the video editing software you paid big money for to remove bad footage.
11. Put your lousy video online so others can see how clueless you are.
