After I posted yesterday, I thought of something else worth sharing with the
group. Namely, I believe that scenes like those from "Tugboat Annie Sails Again" and "The Mighty Joe" came from movies which fall under the general category of "Screwball Comedies". Another one which come to mind is from "Our Man Godfrey" where a woman in an evening gown is placed under the Shower when she pretends to "faint".
Some years ago, I recall seeing a short documentary about "Screwball Comedies" which featured a scene where a woman in a white dress (I believe as the film was n black & white) fakes "passing out" in her boyfriend's arms. He knows she's faking and wades into the mud -- they show his shoes sinking into the mud. Finally, he drops her into the mud! Unfortunately, they cut away from the footage and went on with the commentary about Screwball Comedies. I've never been able to figure out which movie this scene came from (I know -- this is a wetlook forum and mud should be off limits but I just couldn't help myself).
Anyhow, the jist of my posting is that so-called "Screwball Comedies" are certainly fertile grounds for those in persuit of WAM scenes.

For my own tastes, in addition to the excellent Angie Dickenson scene from "Pearl", I enjoyed the scenes from "Tugboat Annie" and "The Mighty Joe". For me, all of these sequences contain every element one would desire in a wetlook scene. A "before sequence" with a beautiful woman made up to-the-nines (pretty dress, high heels, makeup and hair done to perfection) -- and as a bonus in these vintage scenes -- a hat and gloves as ladies of that era were prone to wear. The impromptu dunk in the water with the woman splashing around in her finery, and eventually clamboring out with her shiny soaked outfit sopping wet. Finally a followup scene showing the woman walking around in her wet things. The "Mighty Joe" scene was especially delicious as the pretty woman squealed about how he'd ruined her finest satin dress! Thank you again for your extensive efforts to retrieve these scenes and Bravo for making them available to everyone!
