Like everyone here, I've given this a ton of thought. There are so many facets though, and I find that all the little kinks that I still barely understand drive my wife nuts as she tries to understand just what is going on in my head.
Here's something I thought of recently on a personal basis: As you may know, I have a crazy love for wet winter clothes. Now some theorize that people may develop fetishes in order to somehow control the emotions of a past trauma. I heard this, remembered how I almost drowned when I was maybe six years old (wearing a winter coat, yes), and wonder if my love of swimming in frozen water all geared up is some regressive part of my head trying to still control that memory and it's emotions. ... But, I also remember having a desire to take a bath in my winter coat when I was younger than that event. So maybe it just re-enforced the behavior? I don't know...
I figure that in order to totally understand we'd need a serious case study. Not an internet poll, but a real study with MRI's and brain scans, interviews, etc. I also believe that by studying fetishism, particularly those with less common fetishes (but those who are completely dedicated to those fetishes, such as ourselves) could really help in the study of understanding sexuality in general, nature-vs-nurture, origins of homosexuality and bi-sexuality, and who knows what else. Just a thought I've had for a while. |

By Wet Guy - Sun 13/01/08 19:40:25 GMT Guys - this topic has been tossed around from time to time.
I for one don't have the answer as to why we love to see ladies in wet clothing. Seems to me there must be a "gene" of some kind that turns us on. The more I thought about this fetish, the more I think that there is a gene in all of us that makes us react certain ways to certain kinds of stimuli. For example, why do some like leather so much? Why are some into feet? How about long hair? It just doesn't seem to make sense that these are "learned" reactions or behaviors. The gene for such reaction is either "turned on" or "turned off."
Does that make sense to you? Would be interested in the opinion of others to this question that I have pondered for a long time but have never been able to come to a good answer on. Thanks.
