Do you get any lil drop downs asking that you update anything?
More then most you have 2 different flash things trying to open the same thing and they are clashing, try deleting the old one first and re installing it, you might also want to check which version of Java you are using, that also might need an update. Delete java and shockwave, then just install shockwave first, see if that works, if not then look to install a java bundle.
