I can't speak for the process from a Windows perspective, because I installed both dial-up and cable as a Mac OS user and my ISP made sure that Mac users -- the supposed complete idiots of the IT world -- got the hardest, longest, most twisted install process. Fortunately it's still relatively simple if you know how ;)
But installing a broadband modem is trivial. Connect a USB or (preferably!) Ethernet cable between the PC and modem; you should get one with the modem. Plug in the modem at the wall and switch it on. If your PC has neither USB *or* Ethernet, then you'll have to add an Ethernet network card (or USB card, but Ethernet is preferable), but even my old banger of a PC from 1998 has USB. (My ~1997 Mac had neither when I came to get broadband ;)
That's it. Now just use the install CD provided.
Look at how many hopelessly computer illiterate people there are on the Internet with broadband. They can all do it, and so can you. It's not hard (unless you have an old Mac ;) |

I am also stuck with dialup. I still live with my parents (I am 37!) and the phone and cable are not in my name. Also, I am so totally computer illiterate that I would not be able to install a broadband or cable modem and the necessary software. |

More and more posts are of only videos these days. Yes they are awesome! Especially for the folks who can download them. I do not know about others but speaking for myself with a dialup connection most of the videos are out of my realm. Many times only videos are posted, without pics. So it leaves me wondering what the videos were like.Too bad pics were not included more often along with the videos. Hopefully I am not whining too much but it ain't easy being a caveman.
