I think wet t-shirt contests were always about revealing as much as possible of a woman's breasts without her actually stripping down. The wet t-shirt in this context has always been more about making the t-shirt effectively disappear (or as nearly so as possible) without the woman actually removing it. The fact that it's wet is incidental. So, these contests where the girls end up completely topless is pretty much true to the real spirit of the wet t-shirt contest, making them somewhat pointless to real wetlook fans. Similarly, what interests a true wetlook fan probably seems pretty much pointless to the wet t-shirt crowd (i.e. see-through as a perhaps optional part of the appeal vs. the whole point).
