To aquont:

Thank you for your nice help & the good descriptions. :)

Saving the whole page is one way to solve that kind of prob, I do this very often. Mostly it seems to be the only way to get those 'unabled' pics on HD. But it is a lot to handle if you like to save many pics, as I do at times... ;)

---> Now I got a tip for you, if you don't already know:

When the whole netpage is saved into a folder (yes, in German it's 'eigene dateien' indeed - but only 'save as' seems to work, CTRL-S or german STRG-S won't work for some reason - it appears to be disabled in ANY I.E. menu on ANY computer i've seen so far... Thank you, Microshit!), I use a data-commander, similar to st. like the old Norton Commander. (This is still a very useful thing to keep you informed about whats goin' on in your system anyway...)

---> With this commander now it's quite simple to find the right picture file, because such a prog lets you SORT the files BY SIZE, if you wish. I do this very often, it's my recommended way of getting them on HD. The pics are now on top of the list, thumbs & others that are much smaller will stand far below. This works especially with st. like youtube vids and you don't have to look for it in the whole cache -DIR of your explorer, because of the simple fact that the vids have (mostly) a size of some MB and stand right on top in the commander window - voila! Now you can move them wherever you want to. And rename them, if you wish - just by hittin' ONE KEY. That's easy, I tell you; much better than the lots of mouseclicks you'd have to do in the windows... ;)

Now, what commander prog would I use?

My favourite tool would be the "Total Commander" ( trial version: www.ghisler.com ), it's very useful and has lot more capabilities than I seem to use; though it is rather simple to handle. If something better exists, I'd be really interested to know about.

Maybe you'll try and find it very useful?!  ;)

to WETINRED:

sorry, that won't work on a restricted pic on flickr (no icon above!), all you get then is a 43 bit file called 'spaceball' . It contains - of course - nearly nothing.

But thanks for your answer anyway. :)

to Telcontar:

seems I still got to learn a lot about the Pc. Your explanations are very interesting and useful, too.

Thank you!

to The Bishop:

yes! YES!! That's a way! Seems to be a great prog, though I'll have to get to know it better first, I'd say - this will enable the picture saving for me!

Hugs & kisses! (just kidding) - but a HUGE THANKS is for real! :) :)

saving from flickr "pro" accounts

you save the pic by saving the whole page:

hit ctrl-s in your browser.

then select a folder to save in (eg eigenen dateien in German, ist es so?)

you may assign a new name to the saved page now.

click "save".

repeat this procedure with every page you want to save.

after ending the browser session, close the browser and open the folder you saved the stuff in.

in the selected folder on your hard drive, a html-file will show, and an additional folder containing the many pic and ancillary files of the page like css, java scripts (js), flash (swf), jpeg-icons, applets etc.

open the folder -- there are up to 3 jpeg files that have long number-letter combinations as filenames

like 3535757647_35b7e47432.jpg -- you can distinguish them by the ending of the file names.

Just drag and drop them from the folder into a new folder that you created to hold the pics and discard the saved folder and the html file.

now check for the pics: two of them are thumbnails, one is the original you wanted to save. keep this, and delete the thumbs.

learn how to distinguish thumbs from original sized pics (easy, just look up the last letter) so you can select the right jpeg files

in the first place.

that's quite an effort but sometimes it's worth while.

Hi there,

I'm still upset about this wetshots - server thing. Finally they decided to make any pic saving

even MORE uncomfortable. Fine then. So let's move to somewhere else and maybe even better...

---> For those of you who - maybe - don't know:

At the left corner of this picture (link below) is an Icon 'all sizes' . Click on it - now you CAN save that pic.

Not all images on Flickr are 'public' , whatever that means. When there's no icon, the pic won't be

saveable. Could someone please tell me, how to save then? Copy & paste or even drag & drop won't work this time! (I.E.)

Hey Rumpel, this one's for you! ;)

Maybe someone else likes?
