The authorities don't want people to get into the fountain, that's why they spread rumous about infection. It's much cheaper than to to ban fountain swimming and have a cop to inforce the ban. As for bacteria, it can be anywhere, anyplace, anytime. It is in the air. What should we do? To stop breathing? |

By Roadrage - Tue 01/08/06 16:57:25 GMT Philadelphia has many beautiful fountains near Logan's Circle and The Art Museum (where Rocky ran up the stairs). People (mostly fat people and children, nothing much to see really) often play in these fountains when it's hot.
Anyway, there was a story on the local news about how people were getting ill from swimming in this water. These fountains aren't meant for swimming so the water is not chlorinated, which leaves it teaming with bacteria.
Has anyone ever heard of people becoming ill from swimming in fountains? Does anyone have any comments?
