Madonna's longevity and skill has been in knowing how to re-invent herself every year for the past 20 years.

But working with women who are too smart can have it's drawbacks.....Tracie and I did a series of shoots with porn star Asia Carrera in 2001....and although she always plays a porno bimbo in her adult films, she is actually a member of MENSA, the institute for exceptionally high IQ people. She was a pain in the butt to work with, cos instead of just doing everything we directed her to do in the scenes....she kept "analyzing" every darn thing in our script and questioning me about "why" things were being done this way, and whats the "point" of this scene etc. She basically tried to take over the entire set and direct the crew and everybody else in sight....ha ha. She even tried to tell us how the lighting should be, and how things should be edited.....

I learned my lesson there.....don't hire models who are smarter than you are....cos they make you look foolish....ha ha

I can still hear her running around on my set....asking..."where's my reference monitor"......and Tracie and I shrugging our shoulders and saying..."what reference monitor....we are low budget people...we don't have reference monitors....".....ha ha
