Yes Anthony....you are spot on correct here....this is an old Hollywood trick....i.e. you shoot the scene in daylight...and then you use blue filter lenses or gels on the cameras (or post production editing effects) to make it look like the scene was shot at night.
This is a VERY common phenomina in Chinese and Japanese films....many of their "night scenes" are shot using a blue filter....and that is why most asian wetlook scenes are crap....cos blue light is the kiss of death as far as enjoying wetlook scenes go.
I am sure you are right about that scene...it was shot in daylight but faked with blue filter lenses to look like a night time scene....totally ruined from our perspective.
Too many films these days have lousy lighting and fuzzy focus....which I why I yearn for a return to the 1940's....i.e. the era of glorious technicolor film making. Take a look at the 1938 Errol Flynn movie THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD....that film looks as sharp and crisp today as it did 64 years ago.

It looks like it was shot in daylight - filtered to look like night time. But I agree - if only that scene was a true daylight scene.

That Margarethe Steiff clip was truly awesome.....if only you could see it.....but was totally ruined by the director by having extremely poor twilight lighting. If they had shot that scene in daylight it would have been an awesome scene.....but sadly they ruined it with bad lighting.
For info....to see a similar period dress wet scene which has great lighting....see the Ana Belen scene from the 1993 film El Marido perfecto(A PERFECT HUSBAND).
