Sometime ago a question was asked about the girls' choice of clothes. They all know that they are going to be dunked but nobody brings any swimwear or comes in light clothes such as shorts and tank tops. Why?

I think it can be explained. 1)Since the beginning of the tradition the clothes worn by people at the ceremony have been their usual street ones. The fashion has changed, but the custom remained. So it is the norm here to be dunked in one's street clothes. To bring any swimwear would be inapropriate and more than that, indicent. (Like walking in a swimming costume in the centre of a capital city).

2)The choice of the girls' clothes can be also explained. As we have noticed, they all wear outfits that aren't damaged by water, and that don't get see-through. (As we see one of the girls has even put on two T-shirts). Of course they put on trousers or jeans because they are much more comfortable when being dunked than a skirt and also because the majority of modern girls prefer trousers nowadays.

There also was a question if this tradition can be introduced in other countries, let's say the UK. Why not? But it won't be an easy thing to do. The person who promotes it has to be influencial and energetic.
