I am risking a permanent ban by coming here to read replies. After thinking about it, I now think that it was the picture at the top of the forum intor screen, the one with the two women (called "teenagers" by the librarian) in the red pants, kissing, that was the offending picture. Then again it could be the webshot, or both pictures, or something else I am forgetting. The librarian said that it was a picture of "two teenagers making out". It was the "making out", not the wetlook, that got me banned. the fact that I keep multiple browser windows open, according to the librarian, makes them think that I am hiding objectionable material. I have multiple browsers open to save time by reading one page while another loads. Webshots terms of service ban pornographic images, but they have plenty of pictures of people making out that the library would find objectionable. The see-through shirts where you can see bras underneath are probably objectionable. I was about to say that anything not G-rated is objectionable, but these types of images would be allowed in a G-rated movie! I don't know if I will be able to read more replies another day or not. The image at the top of the forum puts my internet privileges at risk. I gotta get my own computer. The thought police here are just too hard to deal with now! As for "tying up a computer for recreational purposes", KIDS PLAY ONLINE GAMES ALL FREAKING DAY, AND THEY ALLOW THAT! Now if I were to attempt to gamble online, I'm sure that would get me banned.

Unfortunately, I can believe it. I often wonder if this is how prudish American society was in the years leading up to Prohibition. Get this, there's a case in Philadelphia where a man was arrested for being a suspect in a brutal rape in a subway station a couple weeks ago. The man arrested was a permanent resident of the US, originally from Mexico. As it turns out, the actual assailant was the man's homeless half-brother, who looks very much like him. So, just as they get ready to release him, Immigration & Naturalization decides they're going to open a deportation hearing based on laws written after 9/11 (I think based on the Patriot Act, but, admittedly, I don't know that for certain). They are opening the proceedings based on an assault on a police officer from 1999. INS tried to deport him then and an immigration judge decided not to. Now they're trying to throw him out of the country based on a law written after the incident. Now, I know I don't know a lot about immigration law, but doesn't this seem like enforcing an ex post facto law to anyone else? Or double jeopardy? The only thing I can think of is that immigration law is different than criminal law and therefore have lower constitutional standards? I don't know, but in this case, it really seems to be contrary to the things this country is supposed to stand for.

I can't believe this can happen in a modern western country. Are you sure, it was because you viewed wetlook pictures? They can impossibly be so prudish. I can't beleive it. ... If you dropped your pants...well...okay...

I hope, you didn't.

But if you don't have an own PC - why don't you just go to an iternet cafe?

But the best you can do is buying your own PC and do what you want.

It is with sad regret that I must make this my last visit to this forum, at least until I get my own computer. I am the guy who posted last February that I don't have a computer and must use the internet from the library. The head librarian/thought police officer has now banned me from that branch for 40 days (I might be banned countywide when the other branches find out about it) and a threat of a lifetime ban if, after the 40 day suspension, I ever view "objectionable" material on library computers again. Some self-richteous idiot complained about a picture of "teenagers making out". I am not sure exactly which picture this was referring to, but I think it is the webshot of the woman in the pink pants before being thrown in the pool by her boyfriend. The librarian even admitted that the picture is not nude, but she said it is nonetheless "objectionable, borderline pornography, and not fit to be displayed in a public library where children might see it". How this qualifies as "borderline pornography" is beyond my comprehension. It seems that anything can be considered objectionable by some people, and when those people have power, the public gets screwed. I suppose those pictures of rabbits being butchered in China that I looked at about a month ago (no, it mwasn't on this forum) would be "objectionable" too. It is a rare website that doesn't have the risk of an occasional f-word appearing on the screen, and some kid might read it! The internet would be boring if I have to be super careful about what sites I visit. Prior to the February warning, I did look at real porn. I haven't looked at any since then. I thought the prohibition only covered porn, but I guess I was wrong. Anyway, rather I am banned countywide or not, I can't risk visiting this forum again. I probably shouldn't look at any type of pictures of anything, as some idiot may be offended. Text only with no cuss words, I guess. I gotta get my own computer and internet service. The thought police are making life online too hard here at the library!
