I have nothing against the flashmob events and their waterfights......cos I film loads water gun fights every year when I go to Thailand....because Songkran in Thailand is basically not much different to a flashmob event....only in Thailand the anarchy lasts for 7 days and features over a million people.....and so I have loads of "battle scars" from filming those "water wars".....i.e. you need to wear protective wraparound sunglasses to protect your eyes from being hit by a high powered water gun...but it is very hard to see and shoot video when you are wearing sunglasses...so you have to lower your eye glasses to frame your shots, and then that is when I get hit in the eye by somebody's water gun. This year I managed to survive in Thailand without getting a serious eye injury...but my friend Darryl got hit badly with some infected canal water that people use to fill their water guns, and 2 days later he had a major eye infection and I had to take him to a hospital in Pattaya so they could lance a big cist that was growing under his eyelid.....so filming these "water wars" is not much fun for the camera guys....it is much nicer to go to the main fountain in Moscow and grab a beer and a sandwich and sit on the wall that overlooks the fountain and then enjoy your beer and sandwich while covering the wetlook scenes and not being "attacked by the baldies" i.e. it always seems to be shirtless bald guys who are the most brainless amoeba's who like to shoot a watergun right at your face........so that is one rule we always follow....i.e.
....there is a famous saying....."beware of Greeks bearing gifts"....
and when you attend wetlook events....the saying is...."beware of bald guys bearing water guns"....ha ha
I am just saying that Moscow is like Paris.....i.e. those 2 cities have more fountains with wetlook happenings than any other cities in the world....and when you only have 1 or 2 cameramen and you are in Moscow or Paris and have over a dozen different fountains to cover....you are forced to priortize and practise "triage" and go for the better wetlook content (more fuller clothings) and to skip the leaner wetlook content (t shirts and shorts people).
Most cities do not have this problem.....i.e. in most cities you have very little choice of fountains to visit or those fountains are now heavily restricted and will not allow people to go in them (i.e. Trafalgar Square in London or the Trevi fountain in Rome).....but Paris and Moscow are basically a "wetlook disneyland" where you have too many fountains and too much choice....so going to those cities to see wetlook is like being a kid in a candy store....i.e. you have too much eye candy and cannot eat it all...so you have to skip some and go for the nicer candies ....ha ha

By plonss - Wed 20/07/11 23:50:31 GMT I fully share your judgement. For me it is not the flash mobs that are interesting in this post of Rumpel. Indeed there is not much real wetlook. But in the Russian forum link Rumpel posted there are many very good completely clad girls. And indeed some minors, which in public fountains is almost inevitable, and should simply be ignored. No MK with your candid video's from Moscow and elsewhere you are on the right track. It is among the best material there is and I love them, although I must satisfy myself mostly with watching the previews for of lack of money.... |
In reply to Message (51046.5) - I am curious -- I could use some feedback
By MK - wamtec@comcast.net Wed 20/07/11 14:46:35 GMT It would be interesting to have some survey feedback on how highly the wetlook fans rate these flashmob events in Moscow in terms of wetlook content.....cos this could help us collect more of the kinds of footage on video that you like to see.
FYI my camera guys stationed in Moscow are busy filming stuff every week at the fountains, and they often come upon these flashmob events at the various fountains in Moscow (especially the fountain that has the gold statues)...and they have sent me video footage of some of these events, and they all told me the same thing that I saw in the footage....i.e. that the footage was not that interesting cos 80% of the girls at these events are merely wearing t shirts and shorts and very few girls are wearing "full clothings" (i.e. full length jeans) or nice clothings (i.e. dresses and skirts)....so they told me that they gave up filming those events and moved onto other fountains in the area where the scenes were much more interesting. Having seen their footage of these flashmob events, I agreed with their decision to practice "triage"....i.e. when you have over a dozen different fountains in Moscow with wetlook happening on a hot sunny day...and you only have 1 or 2 cameramen there...you can't be covering all the fountains. So, you tend to prioritize and practice "triage"...and if you see less interesting stuff at one fountain, you move onto the next fountain where you can find a lot more interesting full clothing wetlook scenes happening.
Maybe I and my camera guys are wrong.....and if the majority of wetlook fans prefer to see these flashmob events, which are mostly t shirts and shorts scenes, then we got it wrong, and we should have stayed there longer and carried on filming, but trust me,....it is very hard to resist the urge to move onto the next fountain, when you can find much better full clothing wetlook scenes happening 5 minutes away at the next fountain.
So perhaps I am wrong in my assessment. I am curious to get some feedback....so my question is.....if you were at one of these events and filming it....knowing that there are a dozen other fountains within walking distance that have girls wearing much more "full clothings" and not t shirts and shorts....what would you do.....film the flash mob event or move to the next fountain to film the girls wearing full lenght jeans etc.
Another thing to bear in mind is.....if you have ever been to very large events where there are hundreds of people all getting wet at the same time....you will know how difficult it is to film loads of people.....cos it is like filming an ants nest.....too many people and hard to capture anything well...and it is much better (imho) to film 3-4 girls properly....than to attempt to film 100 people running all over the place.
Anyway....if you want us to film these flash mob events....our camera guys can do it....but I am pretty sure you end up with a lot of mediocre footage....and we can get much better footage at the next fountain down the street.
The same rule applies to pie fights too....i.e. "anarchy" and "chaos" at events with too many people.... is a very hard thing to capture on video. You are better off filming less people at less crowded and less anarchic events.
