Leon, I don't see how my original post is inappropriate. I just said my doubts. And the fact that things like professional looking websites, 24h hot lines and offices in several jurisdictions are such a norm today makes these doubts very reasonable. I didn't state that they are doing something wrong, just my doubts. I also didn't call anyone names - unlike the guy from The Mothership. So I don't really know what I did wrong. Sorry if I offended anyone. I didn't want to attack their integrity. My apologies for the misunderstanding. satisfying

I have opperated various sites all hosted by and The Mothership, The Mothership also does the bulk of my credit card transactions.

 

We have been working together for 6 years now, since we started with Mostwet and continue to this day with, Mostwam, Topgunge, YCDTOTI, StreetSplashPublic, MostWet and GungeTankGirls.

 

Over the years we have had Thousands of customers and I am very happy with The Motherships service, both to me and my customers.  I have never had any instances reported to me by ANY of my customers, of their card details being leaked, or innapropriatly used.  If our customers have any issues with payment, Soundguy and myself work very hard to resolve them.  Although, usually the only issues we have is people not completing their payments and then contacting us to ask why their membersips or downloads don't work, never, ever has anyone ever said, my card has been duplicated through usage at our sites.

 

Our payment pages are secure and have certificates.

 

Now it is possible that people can have viruses on their PCs, that would forward any information entered on their computers to be used by fraudsters, as far as I'm aware, when that happens, your information will be passed on no matter which secure gateways you use.

 

The only people that I know of that would have issues with The Mothership would be the ones that have got themselves banned from the system for reasons such as password sharing or chargebacks.

 

The Mothership may not have a 24 hour hotline, but all customer service issues are usually dealt with within 24 hours by Soundguy, sometimes a little longer if they contact me first.  They are not a big company that can afford to offer premium rate 24 hour outsourced phone lines, but instead of speaking to someone in a third world country who reads from a script, you get to have your issues resolved in person by the man running the show.

Do any of the other CC processors offer that service?

 

A lot these other credit card proccessors have great looking websites with promises of great customer service, but they are just window dressing, most of them are too big and take days or weeks to resolve issues and a lot of the time it is impossible to contact anyone or the right person to deal with your issues.  This is not the case with The Mothership!

 

That is why I continue to use and reccommend The Mothership, as I'm sure would my customers!!!

 

If you have concearns about any website's CC proccessing systems, why don't you contact the website you wish to purchase from, of The Mothership themselves rather than starting a thread to attack their integrity in a Public Forum?  If as you say you have not actually had an issue with them?

OK, I tried to get an answer out of Erik, but I think it's time to ask the general wetlook world about this strange company. Many very established web sites use "The Mothership". I sense a personal friendship or something at work. However as I pointed out to Erik, we have 2010 now. I he says the company is legit and many of you will also, but I work at a bank, and this company is an absolute no-go zone for me and probably many others. Why? Because:

1) It has no professional credit card processor website

2) It has no 24h hotline etc

3) It has no certificates

4) It is based only in the US with no EU office. Most established companies have at least another office in the EU (and sometimes also a third one in Asia).

Points 1-3 make it look unprofessional, but point 4 is of vital importance. We all know how the US justice system works. They often don't even extradite serious criminals to other countries (and I'm talkinga bout countries with justice systems no worse then the EU's and better "human rights" records: like Canada, Japan or EU Countries), so an EU (or anything else) customer really has a chance like a snowball in hell against a US company if something goes wrong.

 

As my work in the banking sector has a lot to do with fraud (and no, we never had problems with the Mothership, but with about 20 million CC's we never had anyone use it also) I really am perplexed with this companies popularity in the wetlook world and the taboo that surrounds it. I asked a few times and nobody wants to pursue the issue or even ask questions. I am not stupid and I did see in the archives that the company seems to have something in common with the greats of wetlook (MK, Leonmoomin, Erik etc), but that does not make me less nervous about sites that give it as an ONLY option. To say the truth it makes me MORE uneasy, as an eerie taboo concerning something totally not logical (like having one CC company that is such a strange one) is enforced by the powerful (sort of wetlook establishment, huh?).
