In the old times in Germany, and east Holland, when people want  to know if a woman was a witch or not,  they give the suspect a Witch bath. The arms and legs of the woman are tight up with a rope, and the arms are bound on the legs. Then she was thrown in the water. If she floated, she was a witch and would be executed by burning alive.

If she sunk, she was not a witch and she would be rescued by pulling her up with a rope.

Today it is a tradition to celebrate this part of historie in some villages in germany.

A part of the celebration is to dunk some witches.
