We can delete just the original message, or any branch, but as the replies normally refer to the original, it normally doesn't make sense to leave replies hanging when the original post is deleted.

I think the way this forum works, is that you can't delete single messages without also deleting all it's follow-ups, so if you had replied to a thread that was deleted, all your replies would've been deleted too because of that, even if your posts weren't the ones causing the deletion?
