Most public pools round here let you wear rashies and leggings but no "long and flowing" clothes, no shoes, and no "heavy cotton" clothing such as denim jackets or jeans. Beaches let you wear "anything safe to swim in" including shoes and jackets. I always swim in a rashie top and swimshorts during public laneswims, and a kaftan and hippiewear and swimshoes at the beach or in the river. I imagine that public pools in other parts of the country obey the same restrictions. Of course if you hire the pool you can swim in anything you like (I swam in a wedding dress once :) lol). Always fill your day with wonderful things :) .

I have similar experiences with my wife. We also bathe with clothes on. This is not a problem in natural waters. It's more problematic on the beach. But e.g. in the pool of a smaller hotel, they used to allow us to bathe in other clothes instead of a bathing suit. A pair of leggings and a t-shirt will still fit. You have to tell the swimming instructor that you didn't bring a bathing suit, and they usually allow you to swim in clothes.

Hey question for everyone...what do you all do when it comes to swimming clothed in public? Since swimming clothed isn't exactly the norm, especially in layers, when at a pool I'll pretend to throw my wife in the pool and she'll act like she's surprised/irritated. If anyone is around they usually just laugh it off and not think twice about it. Luckily my wife now likes the idea of swimming in layers cause it keeps her warm in the water. What do you all do??
