The actual swimming is a few fairly brief sections, Maude swims both on her front and her back at different times, she comments to camera on how difficult it is to swim in wellies, that it's definitely a skill.
No, she doesn't lose her boots, we've never had a girl lose her boots while swimming. At one point she sits in the shallows and takes both wellies off and uses them to pour water over herself, she then puts them back on for the rest of the scene.
