I would call myself a realist.....because the reality is that filing takedown requests with all the sites that are hosting unauathorized copies of your media is a totally daunting and overwhelming task. I used to hire 2 guys to do takedowns for me and it was a full time job where they would search all the major streaming sites and find 30-40 videolinks PER DAY that needed to be taken down....and so they had to file DAILY requests to several different sites to get them taken down, and you are right....many of the hosters did take them down...and that work lasted for about 3-4 days only....because within a week those videos I had taken down would then be re-uploaded again when folks opened new accounts....so it was like playing this game....

As soon as you get them taken down, they appear again in a few more days.
Trying to get videos removed is like a cop trying to catch people speeding on the highway.....sure...you can catch a few, but you can;t catch most of them nor stop people from speeding. The only effective way would be to shut down the entire road.....but that is not practical or feasible.
So I am realist.
They used to say there are only 2 certainties in life....i.e. Death and Taxes.....so now there are 3 certainties.....if you produce media...it will get copied all over the place.

By Mikey - Tue 13/12/16 19:57:55 GMT It's getting better. I've seen loads of deleted videos on VK and even channels closed. For a few years now they have stepped up their game. If you have problems with them (probably as you are a small producer in comparison to most mainstream companies who make claims) just post it here, I'm sure enough good folk her will react for it to be taken down!
PS: source of knowledge, have a VK account, never posted, watched stuff, reported illegal stuff |

By MK - wamtec@comcast.net Mon 12/12/16 18:58:08 GMT Who are you going to report them to, and will they care ?
One thing is for sure, it is a waste of time reporting our stolen videos on the largest social streaming site VK.com because that site belongs to Putin (he seized control of that site when it became the largest social media platform in Russia, and ousted the original creator/owner of the site and installed his own puppet to run it for him....so there is fat chance that they are worried about copyright violations from overseas media).
RUTUBE is a smaller streaming media site in Russia (15 million viewers only) and this site was also taken over and the original creator was ousted and was taken over by another oligarch called Vladimir Gusinsky, who runs the biggest tv channels in Russia (NTV) and is somewhat a foe of Putin who has previously jailed him.
Both VK.com and RUtube are run by oligarchs who have much bigger goals in mind and they are not likely to be concerned about international copyright laws, which they don't subscribe to anyway.
You can't expect Russia to follow international laws. The only way to block these videos would be for the international community in other countries to IP block their entire sites from being viewed outside of Russia, but that is not going to happen because the international community values freedom of speech and lack of censorship, so most folks would not want to see sites being banned or blocked if they come from rogue nations.
There are hundreds of my videos on VK.com and RUtube.com as well as many other producers like Leon and Flaviu and there is nothing we can do about it. The way I see it is.....75% of my customers come from the USA, UK and Germany and the other 30% are from other EU nations and I have ZERO customers from Russia who buy my clips anyways. Russians don't buy my media anyway, so I am not losing any business if they see it on VK.com or RUtube because they were never going to buy it anyway....C'Est la Vie.
