I wasn't complaining! 32-bit PNG is nice, but Microsoft were very slow to support it, and 32-bit PNGs in IE 6 have a grey background underneath.
I was just glad to see someone tell Microsoft where to stuff IE 6, and move up to proper 32-bit graphics! I use 32-bit PNGs for our in-house system at work where we're guaranteed IE 7 or 8, but enough people still use IE 6 that I don't use them publicly. (There are ways to get them working in IE 6 though but I never liked using kludges.)
32-bit by the way means a 24-bit "RGB" image with an alpha channel (the last 8 bits per pixel) that determines the opacity of the image on a pixel by pixel basis. For example, you use opacity to provide the blue glow around your logo that is superimposed onto the page background texture.
Don't worry; be happy :)

By WetlookGlamour - mj@wetlookglamour.com Tue 05/01/10 21:37:53 GMT At the risk of derailing my own thread........ After further review, I've come to realize that the issue wasn't with the bit depth, but with the PNG status in general. I did some research and PNG is supported as far back as the now defunct IE5. If you are having trouble viewing the header, I recommend upgrading your browser to one that is more "current". I wasn't happy with the quality of the image at 8bit so I've restored it it' original status.. 40kb difference, a fraction of second in load time. Hope this doesn't cause a problem for anyone... but hey... isn't this thread supposed to be about the great photos of Contessa?

By Malvineous - mrnemesis@ntlworld.com Tue 05/01/10 20:48:46 GMT I notice that you use a 32-bit PNG for your header image. Evidently you've put Internet Explorer 6 behind you now!
Too bad we don't have JPEG images with alpha channels yet.
