Indeed, there is nothing wrong with our city, it is generally known around the UK (except for down South, of course) as being one of the great cities of the country, with an additional reputation (around the world, as well as the UK) as being a great party city. Recently voted 8th best in the world.
The council person is (as you say) just over-reacting, to try to make a point. There have been rather more new lap-dance clubs opening recently, than people like him would like - so he/she is a bit upset.
Can't wait to sit there watching girls getting soaked!!! |
In reply to Message (35066.1.1) I don't like the councillors comments at all!
By Damon - Sat 05/04/08 11:46:12 GMT I dont think its right that he can say such things for a man of his position. Saying that something like this "pushes the boundaries" of decency. but what, normal lap-dancing is ok..? And Labour city councillor Geoff O'Brien said if the idea was approved it would attract the wrong type of people. I didn't know they allowed prejudice remarks where he works! "I have never heard of any other clubs with shower booths in the country so people looking for that will come flocking here. He's talking about it as though its free sex and the bus-loads will be queueing up for it! "But we want to be known for our culture, not a party city for this type of entertainment. One club with a bloody shower will hardly ruin the image of an entire city and if it did then it wasn't much of a city to begin with (No offense to Newcastlers out there, I know the councillor is just over-reacting and there is nothing wrong with your city) "It pushes the boundaries, and begs the question what we will get next?" This guy probably still lives with his mum! Forgive the rant guys but I just can't stand certain things.. |

By Anonymous - Fri 04/04/08 20:51:01 GMT Fantastic - I'll be there. Newcastle is already the UK's biggest and best 'Party-City' and this will make it even better!
Wet girls in clothes like school uniform (or whatever you fancy) dancing in front of you in the shower, all night.
I'll probably never go home! |

The club successfully applied to open until 4am in January
A lap dancing club in Newcastle is hoping that its dancers will soon be able to perform in a shower booth
