Hopefully this thread isn't straying too far off-topic ...
Additional searching turned up a few more pix of Land's End items. Not the greatest quality images, but they give you the general idea of how their "Beach Living" line does look a lot like regular clothing. The print catalog has the best pictures, so keep an eye out for next year's when it comes out. As their descriptions of this style state, "Sure, it's at home in the water. But it also strolls, gardens or plays with equal aplomb ... looks great at the beach or around town."
On this last page, look for the caption "this swimpolo and skirt could pass for a tennis outfit". Hey, that sounds like it could have been written by one of us. :-) The "little black dress of swimsuits" next to it isn't bad, either -- it looks like it really could pass for a minidress.

In reply to Message (12620.2) found it
By klm4748 - Tue 12/10/04 20:46:06 GMT I found these options at Land's End:
But I remember seeing a 'swimsuit' in an ad that was clearly a camisole and board shorts. No idea where to find that again, but I sure wish it had caught on!

In reply to Message (12620) More URLs
By A Nonny Mouse - Tue 12/10/04 07:47:01 GMT It's been a long time since I've posted - work and family have been higher priorities lately - but I still lurk here and occasionally stumble on something interesting to share.
These first three items are not wetlook pictures; rather they provide information that could be useful if your partner doesn't share your interests. These would have to be considered "almost but not quite wetlook", so she might be more comfortable with them, yet they might still tickle your fancy a bit. (Better than nothing at all, and perhaps a first step toward something more.)
1 - Here is some cute lingerie. Of course, you can casually point out that the manufacturer suggests this outfit can also be worn as a swimsuit:

2 - If you love wet tennis dresses, but your partner wants to wear a "real" swimsuit, this might be a suitable compromise:

3 - This is also a "real" swimsuit, but it might appeal to some of you dennim lovers:

On a related note, did anyone notice the new line of women's swimwear from Land's End? It's styled so it looks a lot like regular clothing, e.g. shorts and a polo shirt or a skirt and tank top, but it's constructed like conventional swimwear (stays modest when wet, dries quickly, etc.) According to the catalog, the idea is to have a normal-looking outfit that can be worn while gardening, going to lunch, shopping, or whatever -- but whenever the lady passes a convenient body of water, she can jump in and go for a quick swim, with no need to change or carry extra clothing. (Sorry, I didn't find any online pictures.) This could be yet another possibility to suggest to your partner.
Last up is some true wetlook. Here are a bunch of college students in a fountain, including five /real/ cheerleaders in their white uniforms. Apparently there is a custom whereby the band tosses each year's new cheerleading squad into the fountain. The girls know what's coming, but part of the custom is that they wear their official uniforms to the event, gloves and shoes included, and get dunked in them.
There are more pages in the album, but this one (page 4) has both before and after shots. Click on the thumbnails to get a bigger picture, then click on /that/ to get an /even bigger/ picture. These were taken from a bit far away, but the biggest enlargements aren't bad.
