The big question is if something is behind a login screen. The WBM doesn't want to check the age box or log in to anything, let alone pay for it (which it likely can't). |

By Anonymous - Thu 05/09/24 14:25:00 GMT Hello,
I admit my post was somewhat misleading… It’s true that a lot of content is unaccessible - wayback machine certainly isn’t a perfect tool. That being said, I was actually able to see full resolution sample pics on Wet Kahuna’s site and even download video previews, which was quite the surprise. On Waminstyle, I was able to view the sample pics of all the sets that were posted over the years, many of which are lone gone from the site now. The experience varies from one site to another, that’s for sure.
Cheers. |

I've found that the Wayback Machine sadly reminds us just how much stuff has really been deleted and seems destined never to be seen again.
While many sites are archived there, the snapshots are infrequent and often skip months or years worth of updates, and rarely have full-size pictures been archived, just the pages/text around them. And videos are never archived. Plus there are many sites that have not been archived, and other sites just lost to memory since you can't look them up on Wayback if you don't know their URL from when they were live.
Not to mention all of the candid stuff on old photo-sharing sites, youtube, etc., that's long been deleted by their owners and is not recoverable.
So for me, the takeaway has been save something you like the moment you see it, for it may be gone tomorrow, and gone for good. |

By Anonymous - Thu 05/09/24 03:23:25 GMT Website: https://web.archive.org/ Someone mentioned the wayback machine a few days ago on the forum. Although I knew about its existence and had played with it a little in the past, I never thought of using it to see old wetlook content which is no longer available. For example, Splashinfashion.com (Wet Kahuna), as well as a lot of content from Waminstyle.com that is no longer on their site. I spent several hours with it.
Really proves that nothing is ever truly deleted from the internet!
Cheers.
