That's really neat! I wonder if this is related to the Easter Monday water throwing that goes on in Poland? |
In reply to Message (3748) Old Hungarian Tradition
By NAGYON VIZES - Mon 19/05/03 23:03:15 GMT There is an old Hungarian tradition. On Easter Monday men and boys recite special Easter poems and sprinkle water on women and girls. Women and girls give in change painted eggs. This tradition is called in Hungarian "locsolkodás" (=sprinkling). Now in modern times, this tradition is less observed than originally. Now, in cities and bigger towns real water is not used at all, but drops of eau de cologne instead. But in smaller and more traditional towns water is still used. Look at http://www.tuzoltosag-pomaz.hu/husvet.html and you can see a more traditional "sprinkling" - but not totally traditional, as originally only women and girls were sprinkled, never men or boys.
