Well it has become more of a problem for pool parties like that that people have cellphones all the time. If it's jeans and T-shirt style it's VERY likely that there will be a phone in some girls pocket. At more formal parties it's less risky, then the phone is usually in the girls purse and unless her purse goes in with her the phone will be ok.
Water damaged phones can sometimes be salvaged but not always. The battery should be removed immediately and wiped off well and then the phone has to dry in a suitably warm place for quite long (several days or even weeks) before that one can test it again. If it's in a pool or a pond this might well save the phone. If it's in the sea it's harder, the salt water is very tough on electronic gear. Rinsing it with plenty of fresh water before drying it would be the best remedy to test, but the chances are not the best. |

By Sopping - katakai1@verizon.net Sat 11/08/07 21:15:05 GMT In a series of mindlessly similar girls-in-jeans-get-thrown-into-the-swimming-pool videos which have been going on all summer, I just wonder how many cell phones have been sacrificed to these rituals, These days, everyone seems to have one in his/her pocket. In some cases, I have noted that they were removed before the dunking...but I'll bet, not in most. I was delighted to see, in one posted tonight, that while the guy was trying to throw the girl in, he was pushed in as well. With his cellphone! Good, served him right!
