As I mentioned earlier in this thread, this is a known and very common bug with Internet Explorer - it won't happen with other browsers. You probably need to empty your Temporary Internet Files, and I'm betting that if you do the problem will go away.
Microsoft's official support article about this is here:

By WETINRED - stekz@cableone.net Wed 21/04/04 11:41:36 GMT Website: www.wetinred.com that sorta thing happens to me every once in a while where when I try to save a jpeg, it wants to save as a "untitled" .bmp, then just as mysterious as that happens, the next day mysteriously goes back to saving as jpg's. ! of Bill Gate's curse i guess. But remember, u can change the bmp file to a jpeg, but it doesn't really change the file as bmp images are such huge files, after u change the file name, the size doesn't change. If u save a file as a bmp, u have to convert it back to a jpg. Just by renaming the file ext. does not convert the image from bmp to jpg. |

By Walt - Wed 21/04/04 11:23:48 GMT They are one of the "tricky" ones I alluded to in an earlier thread!! Drove me...well...nuts until I figured it out a year or so ago! I had a folder full of unuseable files that I did not want to dump. One day while fiddling around, I saw several periods, dumped everything after the first one, put jpg there, and BINGO! |

By ngawa - Wed 21/04/04 11:03:03 GMT Got it! Right click, save as and then change the file name before you save to a folder. Weird. Thanks folks for the help. |

By Whyohwhycantthingsbsimple - Wed 21/04/04 04:59:01 GMT OK, what have I missed?
I can save every picture perfectly.
If you take the Pbase items listed earlier on this board, left click on them, then either use the XP disc symbol OR right click and save PICTURE AS, this saves a strange file name.
Right click on the file name, RENAME as say 'test1.jpg' I find it works every time. Using Win XP Pro. |

By ngawa - Wed 21/04/04 04:38:12 GMT Nope - doesn't work. The image is saved, supposedly as a jpg, but I can't open it afterwards. Weird. |

By Penguin - Tue 20/04/04 22:56:26 GMT Click on the thumnail to load the full-sized image, which is contained within an HTML page. At the bottom of each image page you can choose a size ("original" is often HUGE!) Right-click the large image and select "save image". |
In reply to Message (9792) pbase pics
By ngawa - Tue 20/04/04 20:39:41 GMT For some strange reason I can't save pics on pbase as jpg files no matter what I do. "Save target" as only gives me the option to save as an html document. Anyone got any ideas? |
