Recently a change in UK law has been enacted. Basically the legal definition of a "child" has been raised from 16 years old to 18 years old- similar to as in the USA- for the purposes of photgraphs/movies
In addition, the law has been made retrospective too. This means that if anyone has pictures of a sexual nature (topless/see through etc) of someone below the age of 18 in their possesion, even if they were taken years ago, they are commiting an offence.
It's a barmy law, cos you can sleep with a 16 or 17 year old girl legally, but can't take pictures of her.
However it might be that some people in the UK have files containing pictures of girls (16 or 17) that were legal a few months ago, yet now you can be prosecuted for possessing them and end up getting a crimial record.
