THAT is how many viruses work.

They infect a computer, pick an email address from its address book to act as the fake "send" address, then send emails to the others, knowing that people in the same address book might recognise each other.

That's why I get so many virus emails from other domains of my OWN, which don't even have an email account to send emails!

Thanks guys - I thought as much and have deleted it along with the other one that arrived today - the 'I love you' email with attachment. Naturally this was deleted as well. The person that formed the FBI one, should at least work on grammer as I'm sure the FBI would get it right! The strange thing was that the email 'came from' JMMphotos, which I found really strange, as his name is obviously known by me, and not a completely random one.

Hello JMMphotos,

I have a small worry, as I have an email in my inbox arrived from yourself stating that downloading of movies is illegal.

It says that my PC was scanned and that an investigation is being started by the FBI. It gives an FBI address where you can apply for more information , but says that another email will arrive shortly showing the charges. It also comes with an attachment, which of course I dare not open , as it could contain anything! Do you know anything about this email?

Someone must have got to your PC and be using it to pass on these emails, although I am surprised that my email was connected to your site as I have only ever browsed through it. Any information would be appreciated.
