I saw the tape sale, but didn't make the connection until you mentioned it.
I suspect that PayPal doesn't actively seek out "non-compliant" account holders unless there is something which makes them stand out for some reason. Could be high volume, movements between certain countries, or most likely, someone not affiliated with PayPal bringing a situation to their attention. Could be a customer compliant (non-delivery), a vendor complaint (non-payment), or quite possibly, a "troll"... someone who just wants to make a nuisance of himself by "ratting out" all the non-compliant vendors he can find.
I should think that all of the vendors who visit here would probably remain under PayPal's radar, unless someone with nothing better to do alterted them to the non-compliances... unless someone here is making $1,000,000 a year selling wetlook videos. Unfortunately, this can lead to all sorts of apparent hypocrises... flagrant violations of the "rules" occurring without apparent consequence, while marginal transgressions are met with severe penalties. The problem is, that this does not create a disincentive for the worst offenders... they know that if they keep a low profile, they can get away with anything and everything and not get caught. And even if they do get caught, chances are the worst offenders will have no problem re-establishing themselves, repeatedly if necessary.
I agree, Jim... PayPal should either do it right or not at all... or at least focus on the big fish and leave us small fry alone!

In reply to Message (8607) PayPal and Ebay: The Kings of Hypocrisy
By Jim - jim121272@aol.com Wed 11/02/04 11:55:11 GMT Website: www.wetlookunlimited.com Please reference Message 8582 below, which gives a link to a Minx video for sale on Ebay. (This message is IN NO WAY against Nigel; we are friends and I'm just using this situation to make a point.)
PayPal cancells MY account, because I sell wetlook, with NO nudity and very little sexual suggestion.
Videos such as the one in question, which DO have nudity and are much more explicit, are sold on Ebay.
Ebay OWNS PayPal, and PayPal will likely be used by the customer to BUY this video.
See any hypocrisy here?
I would call on all members of this forum to BOYCOTT PAYPAL AND EBAY until they enforce their policies CONSISTENTLY.
I realize this is an uphill battle, but I am sticking to my guns on this one. Any support at all would be appreciated!
Jim
