We don't sell CDs (or DVDs or tapes). We are not in the distribution business for physical media. We chose to be a totally online setup, so that we don't need to be involved in cutting and mailing out stuff. The last thing we want is a postroom! (LOL) We prefer to spend that sort of valuable time doing something more useful - like taking more photos and videos for members.

This will not just be happening in January alone- every month we will be deleting a whole stack of material from styxwetworld.

On average that would mean 1- 1.5GB of material each month.

If we make all that available for free then it means that we would be giving away around 2,000/3,000GB of bandwidth each month- which is the entire server capacity available to us.

Actually we only have a maximum of 2,000 GB- but we are increasing this to 3,000 shortly for new sites we are preparing to launch.

Many people think that the wetlook scene is limited to just the people you see on this forum- but there are thousands of people out there who you have never heard of, never post, never do anything really except freeload off everyone else.

The question's been asked "why not put all the Jan 2003 Styx content up for free". Here's the maths ...

We know that in 5 hours, around 600 people downloaded a recent WIR clip of 19Mb. We also know that any free clip we offer attracts around 2000-3000 people in 2-3 days.

We are about to delete 3.2Gb of photos and videos. If we offered those for free we would need servers capable of 5000Gb (5 Terrabytes) of bandwidth in a month.

Who do you know who has that much bandwidth that they would give away for free? That's around 5 times the web server capacity of the largest corporates.

Maybe it will sink in soon to people that there is no such thing as FREE?
