WMV & DIVX apparantly use similar wavelet compression, but the WMV format seems to be able to better DIVX for quality (at least, when Styx use it). Consequently, I see no need for the hassle of resolving DIVX codecs (assuming Mac Users can use WMV too, as apparantly they now can). MPEG doesn't enter the equation for me as the quality is significantly lower than either of the above. |

By WETINRED - stekz@cableone.net Wed 21/01/04 03:09:03 GMT Website: www.wetinred.com Hi Ya'll, I need some feedback from u guys on the possiblity of not being able to view the DivX encoded .avi files that are up at the moment. For my own sanity, I've had to convert just about every .avi file I have, only cuz my cpu is old and cant handle the intensity of Divx. So if any of u are experiencing problems viewing the .avi's let me know and i will start replacing those files with the more universal .Mpg's. Also for u guys that are using Mac's, .wmv files will not play unless ur using an OS thats similiar to Windows, cuz .Wmv files can only be played thru the Windows Media Player. So I need to here from everyone whether or not I need to replace the more intensive divx encoded files with the less intensive .mpg files. THANX Steve wir
