They already have such a society....it is called the Freemasons...and members greet each other with special handshakes (delightly parodied by John Cleese handshaking with his arm under his legs...if you watch Monty Python).

It is just pure coincidence that you used the skull and bones smilie for your posting...cos the skull and bones happens to be the name of the foremost secret society in the USA...to which many high profile people belong...spawned out of the ivy leagues.

It is real easy to spot a wetlook fan as opposed to a normal person (just kidding). I see all the german pool party tapes and you can spot the "ringers" in the pool in 2 seconds flat...i.e. wet fans who go to pool parties to indulge themselves, as opposed to other party goes...the wet fans just don't act the same way as regular folk do. Same goes for wetlook voyeurs (like me) too. You can spot a wetlook spectator from a regular spectator in 5 seconds.

I am reminded of those old series of Jeff Foxworthy jokes...i.e. "you might be a redneck if .....etc". The same is true for wet fans...you could apply their characteristics too...i.e. you might a wet fan if...

a) you hang around at a dunk tank or fountain for more than 5 minutes ...

b) you keep pacing up and down the same beach or lakeside pretending to be a tourist

c) you have the best camera and zoom lens that money can buy...and all your video gear is worth more than the car you are driving....ha ha

d) you rent loads of videos from Blockbuster and scan thru them all in one night and take them back the next day without actually watching any of them...

e) you go into withdrawal symptoms and have an anxiety attack whenever this forum goes offline for more than an hour..

f) you deliberately buy your wife or girlfriend a pair of jeans that are too big...so you can get her to shrink them in the tub for you.

g) you watch foreign language tv shows or rent foreign language videos...even though you can't speak the language.

etc etc...just having some fun...cos I am guilty of all these things too.

I've been watching all the old James Bond movies that they've been playng on tv. recently and got inspired! Actually some genius came up with the idea a long time ago and nothing was ever done about it!The idea of us forming a "secret society",of course it would be an "open secret",there would be no dues to pay or meetings to go to it would simply be a "code word" so we could identify one another!The guy who came up with idea said we could carry a certain type of coin representing a wetlook event,or have some sort of gesture (that we all agree on) so we know.Case in point-I was at a certain fountain in a certain city and saw another man like me hanging out with a camera and a big smile on his face! I was going to approach him and ask "are you a wammer?"but if he wasn't he'd say "wammer?! What's that?"so if someone can come up with a more innocuous word or statement,(ie;"the wet ground is shiny" etc.) wouldn't that be a good idea! and if it ever did become organised think of the fun we'd have "initiating" new members!
