Lots of stress dealing with human tragedy and persons in crisis.. both immediate or in a therapy setting, and collective ptsd on the front line and counsel work elicited a couple of valid points. (One was when a co worker and I ended up fully clothed in Lake Ontario after a stressful night..Thigh deep in spinach like seaweed, a passing jogger on the trail above made a comment. Her reply was that it was a great stress release to harmlessly play by not conforming to what society dictates, and much healthier than alcohol or chemical sedatives.. ). The female PhD analysis , who went to the local discount store and bought " disposable" leggings and running shoes for our mud frisbee group, concluded pretty much the same..Also said the river mud was good for her hair.

That group was the analyst, a female sports announcer, a peer from an adjacent fire service, a professor and a housewife.

Wow, really? How disproportionate are you talking? And do you have any idea about why that may be?

It's interesting you mention that. I know a disproportionate ratio of WAMMERS that are in emergency services or professional services ( dealing with public)

Hello All,

My name is Owen and I'm a journalist. I'm looking for any volunteers to speak to me on a story i'm writing.

A few months ago I was the manager of a small cinema in South London that was hired out on weekends for private parties and functions. I worked a Splosh/WAM film festival with an award ceremony at the end.

Two things really struck me about the event -

1) How unbelievably supportive everyone at this event was. There was one woman in particular who won an award, and then donated £200 to a mental health charity in its honour because 'she saw a lot of joy and a lot of self-expression, but also a lot of anxiety, depression and mental turmoil.'

2) There were two men dressed in army uniforms, who strongly hinted to me that they'd found themselves really struggling with PTSD after their respective tours, and had found this incredible support network within the community.

The story I want to write is on those two men, although not exclusively on veterans. If you have found a serious sense of place and belonging in this community beyond sexuality then I would love to talk. Again, this is not limited to WAM, if there is ANY sexual subculture that you believe I should look into because of the support it gives, then please respond. First and foremost, I want to know if the story of these men is common, because if it is I think it's beautiful.

I'm based in London, but if there is anyone around the world who has a story to share, then I can, of course, set up a skype call or an email chain.
