I agree with another post - Hopefully it is just a fad that will pass. I have run cameras of all types since the '70's & never turned anything out like that that makes one seasick! I don't mind the free-held shots that aren't rock steady like a tripod, but this other stuff is for the birds (especially on large-screen!!).

'Saving Private Ryan' was a good first-person POV, and worked nicely (as mentioned earlier). The effects certainly brought you into the picture, as they simulated our natural movements. Unfortunately, this 'new' style makes me think of an unfortunate person with problems holding still. I just turn off programming like that, as I have balancing problems (no middle-ear sense of balance/motion, I learned to use my eyes instead & this clashes with the abdominal motion senses), and it really does make me sick to the stomach (I can listen to West Wing, but cannot watch the episodes taped this way). There are several shows I wish I could follow, but can't due to this. Natural motions like the previously mentioned movie are no problem at all.

Sorry to get off topic but since this is the only place I know where producers contribute perhaps one of them could answer this.  What is the deal on network shows and commercials where they purposely jiggle the camera?  I don't understand why they do this.  In commercials it looks like they hired a 3 year old to hold the camera... very unprofessional.   I just saw an episode of West Wing where they are inside the White House (presumably removed from the infulence of strong winds and earthquakes) and the picture is jumping around.  I don't get it.  What is with this technique?   Once again sorry for getting off topic.
