Come on...get real...it is not about people's freedom, it is about the world's third largest reserve of oil. After all, it was the USA that armed Hussein and supported Iraq in it's war against Iran and if you remember it was our ambassador that gave Iraq the information we would not take action if they invaded Kuwait.

Hussein certainly was a terrible man, and it was the USA that created him, just like Noriega and other terrible dictators to suit out objectives.  Then we all of a sudden become horrified when they now longer take orders from us, but start acting out on their own.

If genocide is such an important issue, where was the USA and UK when 800,000 were killed in 100 days in Rwanda?  Why aren't we in the Sudan, protecting the minority populations?  "The war in Iraq has sidetracked everyone away from Sudan, the place of the worst human rights nightmare on the planet.  Taking advantage of this situation, the Khartoum regime has stepped up its genocidal warfare against its own people," There has been an estimated 2 MILLION deaths in this genocide.  

There are terrible things happening in our world every day, and yes I believe we should be part of the solution.  We are supporting people of peace in missions in Liberia and Sudan and places where 100 billion dollars could save lives instead of costing lives.  

It is a FACT that we were spending 100 million a year to contain Hussein and protect the minorities in the North and South with the no-fly zones.  Iraq did not need to be invaded, we did not have to kill and injure all these people to protect them...

You are right, terrible things happen when people sit silently by, that is why Julie and I don't.....

now....where is that pill that makes you bigger? or is it smaller?  where is that damn rabbit!

Problem is when the west does something they're wrong, when they don't do something they're wrong.

Don't forget we are talking about a regime that killed at least 10 times more Iraqi's than the US has done, a regime that has almost exterminated the Marsh Arabs, gassed thousands of men, women and children. A regime that has already (twice- Iran and Kuwait) invaded a neighbour and virtually destroyed it through sick, wanton, destruction.

We should have finished it years ago- but the bleeding hearts called a halt- creating death and torture for thousands in Iraq. But it doesn't matter to them, they're safe and free in their own little worlds. How would you feel if your wife/mother/son/brother was hanging up on a meat hook in a torture chamber, whilst the cosy, safe people of the west argued about doing something about it?

Don't forget the old saying, which goes something like, evil exists when the good men of the world sit back and do nothing.

As for the other posting concerning terrorism. What's the alternative? What are the demands of the terrorists? It's quite simple really- give up our way of life!

So all we have to do is treat women like dogs, ban music and laughter and all the things in life we work for and enjoy. How do you negotiate with people who do not believe in your right to exist?

There would be no "free spirits" under this lot- wet or dry

Reports have also suggested that Saddam has already be removed from Iraq by the US.

US administrator Paul Bremer told a packed news conference it was a great day for Iraqis. "The tyrant is a prisoner," he said.

Cheers and shouts of "death to Saddam, death to Saddam" erupted when a video of the former leader undergoing medical checks was shown to journalists.

Saddam looked dishevelled and tired, with long hair and a long, greying beard.

US and Coalition forces found him asleep in a six-to-eight-foot-long hole in the ground where he had buried himself to avoid capture. He had a suitcase of cash, a pistol and two rifles with him.

He is now being held under tight security and has been described by the US as "talkative and cooperative" and "a man resigned to his fate".

DNA and medical tests have been carried out and the 66-year-old's identity confirmed.

Tony Blair, who returned to Downing Street from Chequers, said: "Let his capture bring about unity, reconciliation and peace between all the people in Iraq."

Three members of the Iraqi Governing Council visually identified Saddam. They said he was trying to justify his crimes and described him as tired and "unrepentant" and "defiant".

He is expected to be put on trial in public.

Hundreds of exultant people took to the streets of Kirkuk and Baghdad firing weapons into the air in celebration.
