Some of you will no doubt recall previous posts regarding photographer Brooke Shaden getting wet for her art, as it's something she does quite often. The video below, which she posted at the end of May, is another example of this, in which she wears an vintage-style maxi dress and lays down in a stream a couple of times in order to produce an Ophelia-themed photo:

In an Instagram post that Brooke wrote this week, she said: "I went outside to stand in the rain. It poured, soaked into me. When I came inside, thet told me how crazy I am. I couldn't stop thinking: Why do people think I'm so weird for doing things like that? How frequently do we make mountains out of molehills? Why do we hide instead of feeling? These questions might seem overblown for such a simple thing as standing in the rain, but that is just one example out of thousands in the ways we choose to feel less, the ways we choose to be comfortable.
The biggest problem I have is getting people to understand the transience of experiences. What we do fades; I won't be wet from the rain forever. But how we felt stays with us. Ever important are the feelings, good and bad, uncomfortable and the like, that let us know we are alive. Next time it rains, let it pour on you, soak to your bones, splash in a puddle barefoot. Next time you meet an opportunity, say yes, regardless of discomfort...or just maybe, because of it".
