I appreciate the comments at this thread. Part of the getting crosswise to people is the definition of the word "forum." So I looked it up in "google." In essence, it bore out my premises.

The US Congress, the British House of Commons, and many (but not all) institutions where people gather to (allegedly)govern, are forums (forii?..nah).

But such forums are home for two-way discussions. As each side puts forth its position, the other side may rebut, counter, whatever. Said discussions, even in the august houses of governancee.g. "my good friend from the Great State of Delaware, mistakenly believes etc etc." or "as the right honorable and gallant gentlment from Stropshire is well aware...etc etc."

Such byplay may become heated..see Taiwan, Japan, S. Korea, and other assemblies in which heated, furniture-throwing brawls sometimes make the evening TV news.

Therefore I have always interpreted a forum, even this one, as a means in which both sides of a subject are discussed among intelligent, sentient human beings. I put forward my side and my views; others counter. So be it.

Many times I have stated my dislikes. More often, I have stressed my likes. But I (usually) do not fault the producers of material or costumes which I dislike. (But I sometimes do, as to admit, for example,  to a strong distaste for the overt demonstrations of lesbian tastes in postings. I have so stated. But this is not a condemnation of lesbians per se, just the nature of the displays on the sites.

But, no matter. I like dresses more than jeans; but I like capris; cuttoffs of all types; and think white pants are real winners. I happily download costumes of all genres (except stockings and garter belts, another dislike), but for those who like 'em..fine.

I do not attempt to configure the content of the forum, only my own photography and tastes.

If others believe so, humble appologies.

Negative feedback, if worded correctly and in a way that helps is not unwelcome!

However, if you just say your pictures suck, or demand free pictures, you will not get the friendliest of replies!

On the 8th of March 2000, I received the following e-mail about the pictures on my first ever website (the one with Fiona), the e-mail I found at the time to be quite insulting, but I did my best to try to fulfill the senders advice!  The e-mail was both flattering and critical, but was not demanding a certain outfit or more pictures, it was genuine advice!

Here is the e-mail:

______________________________________

I like your page and your work. It has considerable promise, and your

girlfriend-model is attractive and photographs well.

HOWEVER: I have a few suggestions which may be of use to you, particularly

if you desire to sell your photographs. I also submit them in hopes that we

will see more of your photos of the lady in the near future.

In summary: You must improve the quality of the photos before you think of

selling them. As a wetlook photographer myself, I believe I know whereof I

speak.

1. Watch your backgrounds. An attractive girl posed beside a roll of toilet

paper is not attractive in the overall sense!

2. Control your lighting better.

3. Watch the overall composition of your photos. Or if it is not to your

liking, crop and frame the picture before you post it.

4. Some of your photos are out of focus. Do not bother to post those as they

give an impression of poor quality. If they are not out of focus,

concentrate on the way you post them. Some can appear to be out of focus

because of the mechanism of posting.

5. Finally, and most significantly, try to generate greater animation, smiles

etc. on the part of your model. She looks either bored or unhappy in most of

your shots. Yet there are a few with genuine smiles, and the "come hither"

pursed lips ( as for a kiss) is a good pose. Get her to look more playful,

splashing water, fooling around, trying to stay dry or something. Generate

some action. {see my girl in the surf photos on the Total Wetlook site for

examples). And get her to smile!

I hope we can see her outside in a pool, the sea, or something similar in

the near future.

Good luck on your endeavors.

That advice has been in the back of my mind for a very long time, so believe it or not, thank you Sopping!  Sometimes you can be a real pain in the butt, but that e-mail was spot on and was a great influence on my work since!
