Explains the dressing up, anyway, though not enough about the horses perhaps. Noticeable that the gypsies - young and old - whom he interviews mostly have Geordie or Yorkshire accents, whereas most southern English gypsies have accents closer to Irish - which I think also goes with the "gritty north of England tradition" which the photographers seem mostly to be into.

Not quite sure if this is strictly wetlook or not, but I also liked this one in the street of the big girl who appears in the water in quite a few of the others - notice that her jeans have partly dried, but are still noticeably wet where they are in contact with the horse:
