Yes, Larry, u r correct. It's webshots. I checked it again and u get 7 extra cookies including servedby, double-click,gator, maxserving, advertising and a couple others. when i clicked on the link, a popup was blocked by my popup software. However I ran an Ad-Aware scan and found nothing, because i run these programs--both by AnologX ("POW" and "Cookie Wall") http://www.analogx.com/welcome.htm What I love about POW is u can physically put the popups that come up in a database so that later when they try to show up, it automatically Kills 'em. Every time. I currently have over a 100 of 'em and over 500 "Kills" over the last 7 days alone The Cookie Wall acts the same way as u can put in the unwanted cookies in a database that prevents anything from being installed. Sure they still appear in ur cache but after a while u'll start to recognize 'em and just delete 'em from the cache. Both very reliable Programs as the Ad-Aware is also. Combined, I say , let 'em have at me but there arent any viruses or anything like that from the link. It's just one of those web-based programs like Yahoo or AOL or MSN, Those all will put a load of unwanted cookies on the ole h/d Just be careful u don't delete the wrong cookies like those to sites that are paysites or u'll have to type ur username and password in all over again and with the logging on usernames and password paysites now give u , they can definitely be forgotten. Hope this helps |

In reply to Message (7344) Spyware Virus
By larry - larry7389@aol.com Wed 10/12/03 03:59:16 GMT I'm not sure if this will be in time to help anyone or not, but my virus program went off and I ended up with a mess of spyware after clicking on the link in about msg. 7328....my apologies if this is not the correct msg. It will change your homepage on Internet Explorer, so all you have to do is to go into internet options and change it back...It's a good idea to get programs like ad-aware or spybot to clear all this out also. |
