That's true but without U.S. support Saddam would not have been able to fight back the troops of Iran under Mr. Chomeini, who was declared No. 1 enemy of the U.S. government at that time. And also, the killing of thousands of kurdish civilians in Iraq by the iraqi military did not cause any kind of american intervention. In fact many other governments did not critisize this event as well.

The vast majority of Iraq's weapons and technology came from France, China and the Soviet Union

Knowing that this is certainly not a political forum, you should not forget that is was the U.S. who supplied Saddam with weapons, technology and military intelligence (satellite photos etc.) after he started his first gulf war against Iran with low success. Shortly before the second war on Kuwait he was visited by Mr. Donald Rumsfeld and obviously there were no negotiations on human rights. So much for facts. Anyway, we should keep this a wetlook forum.
